Professor emeritus Andrzej Gładysz MD. PhD. Departament and Clinic of Infectious Diseases, Liver Diseases and Acquired Immunodeficiency Andrzej Gładysz is Professor of Infectious Diseases at Medical University of Wroclaw, where he has been since 1968. He also currently works at EMC Institute (from 2007). Former Heard of Dep. and Clinic of Infectious Diseases of Medical University in Wrocław (1981-2011), currently co-worker. Head of the Group of Experts in Health Care – Associated Infectious Control. His research interests center on infectious hepatology, nosocomial infectious, diseases transmitted by animals, HIV and AIDS problems. He received his diploma in 1966 from Medical Academy of Wrocław, in 1965 he completed fellowship in Catania (Italy). He finished his postgraduate training: specialization in general medicine and specialization in infectious diseases, as well as several fellowships (infectious diseases) in Umea (Sweden-1978), (hepatology and AIDS) in London (Royal Free Hospital – several times 1987-1995,and in Westminster Hospital and Kobler Center, S.Mary Hospital – 1992), (hepatology) in Basel (Switzerland). He received his PH.D. in 1980, in 1992 he received the title of professor of medicine. Since 1993 to 2005 he was the country consultant for infectious, from 1985 to 1994 he was the chairmen of Polish Society for Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology. From 1993 o 1998 he was the chairmen of Polish Scientific Society of AIDS. From 1986 to 1990 elected member of EASL 1986-1990, member of International Society of Interferon Research since 1988. From 1992 to 1997 member of Ministry of Health Advisory Council. He was also a chairmen of editorial board of Polish Journal of Hepatology, Polish Journal of Clinic of Infectious Diseases, Hospital Infection and Polish Journal of Problems of HIV and AIDS. From 1993 to 2005 he was the national consultant in infectious diseases. Since 1974 to 2011 he was the Head Department and Clinic of Infectious Diseases Medical University in Wrocław. Professor Gładysz participated in approx. 30-40 differential clinical trials of phase II, III and IV sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, Medical Academy or Polish Academy of Science on hepatology, HIV/AIDS and prophylactic or therapeutic vaccinology. Professor Gładysz received several awards and prizes: • 1974 – Jędrzej Śniadecki’s award – Polish Academy of Science • 1973, 1975, 1990 – Ministry of Health award • 1979 – Ministry of Education award • 1995, 1996 – Ministry of Health Award for HIV/AIDS research • 2005 - 2013 – Ministry of Health Award for HIV/AIDS research very year • 2010 – Individual Award of Ministry of Health for education and science He is an author of approximately 420 papers on enzymology, immunology, liver diseases, HIV and AIDS and animals born parasitic diseases published in polish and international journals and symposiums, conferences and congresses. He’s also co-author of 15 books for physicians and students, on rabies, diagnosis in infectious diseases, AIDS and therapy of HIV infection, hepatology, vaccination, (in Polish). Last publication has been edited in 2014 year.
