Jerzy Podsiadło is a graduate of the former Faculty of Industry of the University of Economics in Katowice. He worked as an academic teacher for many years, first at the University of Silesia, and then at the University of Economics in Katowice. In 1978, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “International division of work in politics and economic practice in Poland.”
In 1986, he began work as chief specialist in the Polish Chamber of Foreign Trade in Katowice. From 1988, he worked at Stalexport S.A. as chief specialist, and then as finance director – Vice President of the Management Board. From November 2001 to May 2002, he simultaneously managed steelworks Huta Katowice S.A. and Huta im. T. Sendzimira S.A. as president of their management boards. After the merger of the steelworks, he became President of the Management Board of the Polskie Huty Stali holding, transformed into the uniform company Polskie Huty Stali S.A. on 1.01. 2003. From the moment of the company privatisation in March 2004, he fulfilled the function of Vice President of the Management Board of ArcelorMittal Poland S.A. and earlier Ispat Polska Stal S.A. and Mittal Steel Poland S.A. In December 2008, he resigned from his positions.
Head and member of a number of supervisory boards, among others currently manages works of the Supervisory Board of Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A. in Katowice. Member of a number of associations and business organisations, among others Vice President of the Polish Economic Society branch in Katowice. In the years 2005-2010, European Union counsellor in Steel Advisory Group in Steel Advisory Group.
Since August 2009, he fulfils the function of President of the Management Board and Director General WĘGLOKOKS S.A.
