In 2006 elected for the Mayor of the City of Zabrze from the list of civic committee “Skuteczni dla Zabrza”. Re-elected again in 2010 and 2014. Thanks to the effective management, Zabrze is a sustainable city. Recent years is the time of such important undertakings as among others: construction of Zabrze’s part of Cross-Regional Motorway, development of Katowice Special Economic Zone, modernization of water and sewage system, thermo-modernization of public buildings, environmental projects such as Low Emission Reduction Program and reclamation of areas located by Bytomka river and construction of sport and recreation facilities.
Zabrze which is located on the European Industrial Heritage Route is a city set as an example in using post-industrial objects for tourism and culture. In 2007 Monumental Coal Mine Guido was open. Currently advanced works on Main Key Heritage Adit are conducted. Every year more and more tourists visit the city who visit Coal Mining Museum, Queen Louise Open Air Museum or Maciej Shaft. Zabrze is also an organizer of international tourism fair and tourism conference.
Małgorzata Mańka-Szulik initiated first self-government art school in Poland – Art Secondary School in Zabrze. Being its headmistress she built a school model creating active recipient and culture creator. As a founder and a chairwoman of many NGO organizations she undertaken several cultural, economic, educational initiatives with partnership dialog. Mathematician. Graduated from University of Silesia. Does not belong to political party.
