Marek Gierlotka (b. 1973) - a medical doctor, an internist, cardiologist, doctor of medical sciences. A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine in Zabrze, Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. Since the beginning of the work associated with the Third Department and the Division of Clinical Cardiology, Medical University of Silesia in the Silesian Centre for Heart Diseases in Zabrze. Currently works as Deputy Coordinator for Intensive Cardiac Care and Acute Coronary Syndromes, taking care of patients in acute life-threatening conditions as well as interventional cardiologist performing coronary angioplasty procedures.
Author and co-author of over 140 scientific publications, including many in prestigious international medical journals, congress reports and book chapters, mainly about acute coronary syndromes and myocardial infarction. In scientific work specializes in the methodology and analysis of registry data, both in epidemiological and clinical perspective. In 2006-2008 a member of the Experts of the European registry "Euro Heart Survey on Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) Registry". Since 2003, co-author and coordinator of the Polish Registry of Acute Coronary Syndromes PL-ACS (together with Prof. Lech Poloński and Professor Mariusz Gąsior), and from 2013 co-chair of the Scientific Board of the Nationwide Database of Acute Myocardial Infarction AMI-PL (together with Prof. Tomasz Zdrojewski and Prof. Bogdan Wojtyniak).
Member of the Polish and European Societies of Cardiology and the President-Elect of the PTK Section of Intensive Cardiac Care and Resuscitation. Since 2014 the voivodship consultant in the field of cardiology.
