Before coming to Warsaw branch of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Naofumi Makino has been involved in research concerning EU policies including EU’s FTA negotiations with main trade partners and other trade-related issues. He is an author of many publications focused on EU-related topics, including articles published in newsletters JETRO – Tsusho Koho. He also published a book on the EU-Korea FTA. In June 2013, he has been appointed to the position of Director-General of JETRO Warsaw office. JETRO Warsaw, established in 1975, conducts activities aimed at supporting Japanese companies in Poland, promoting Polish investments into Japan as well as enhancing industrial co-operation and mutual understanding between Japan and Poland through the organisation of different seminars, B2B meetings, business missions and many other events. JETRO Warsaw is one of the foremost sources of Japan-related trade and investment information in Poland. It offers a wide range of services not only for Japanese but also for Polish companies interested in Japanese market, especially for those that are in a stage of considering the investment in Japan.
