Kamil Pruchnik

Position: Representative for Poland, European Investment Fund (EIF)
Currently serves as the European Investment Fund (EIF) Representative for Poland. As part of this mandate, he serves as an EIF ambassador and promotes the use of EU initiatives in Poland to increase private investment and improve the competitiveness and innovation of the Polish economy. For his contribution to educating the financial market about available EU instruments in Poland, he was recognized with a special award from the Polish Bank Association and the National Contact Point for EU Instruments. Prior to assuming his mandate in Warsaw, Dr. Pruchnik led EIF investments in financial intermediaries (banks, investment funds, leasing companies, and fintech companies) in 15 EU countries, totaling EUR 2.5 billion. Previously, he worked for HSBC Group in Poland (as a corporate governance specialist) and the UK (first in the strategy department and then as Head of Corporate Banking). Previously, he worked as an economist at the National Bank of Poland (NBP) and as a consultant for the World Bank and the United Nations. He received his doctorate from the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) (supervised by Prof. L. Balcerowicz). During his studies, he undertook research trips to Georgetown University and Harvard University, among others. His doctoral thesis—presenting the results of a research project entitled "Mysteries of Banking Crises," implemented under the Diamond Grant of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education—received first prize in the Bank Guarantee Fund competition for the best dissertations on financial stability (2023).
