Katarzyna Kuczyńska-Budka
Mayor of Gliwice
Mayor of Gliwice since 2024, Katarzyna Kuczyńska-Budka has been associated with the city all her life. She holds a degree in Polish Philology from the University of Silesia in Katowice, as well as an MBA degree. She has also completed postgraduate studies in public relations, human resource management and public administration at the University of Economics in Katowice. She spent many years working in the media, including Radio Plus, Telewizja Polska and Dziennik Zachodni, before moving into central and local government. Her previous roles include Press Officer at Zabrze City Hall, Head of the Press Office at the Silesian Voivodeship Office and Deputy Director of the Voivode’s Office. Since 2015, she has served as Director of the Marshal’s Office in the Silesian Voivodeship, where she has delivered programmes for seniors and young people, developed cooperation with NGOs and international partners, and actively supported women’s initiatives. She was also Director of the Department of Dialogue at the Marshal’s Office. For many years, she has been actively engaged in public service for Gliwice and its residents, including in her earlier role as a city councillor.
She is married to Borys and has two daughters, Michalina and Lena. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and reading.
