Nargiz Gurbanova
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Poland
By decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, she was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Poland on 8 January 2021.
From 2016 to 2020, she served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Bulgaria.
Between 2014 and 2016, she was Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation and Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
From 2010 to 2013, she served as Counsellor, Chargé d’Affaires, and subsequently Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the United States.
Between 2004 and 2007, she held the positions of Third Secretary and later Second Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Austria.
She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Vienna (Austria). She also earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in International Relations from Baku State University (Azerbaijan), as well as a Master’s degree in International Management from Western University (Azerbaijan). She pursued studies in International Business at Jönköping International Business School (Sweden) and International Law at the University of Nice (France).
State decorations: the Centenary Medal (1919–2019) of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Order of the Madara Horseman (First Class) of the Republic of Bulgaria for contributions to strengthening and developing bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Bulgaria.
