Stanisław Mazur
Deputy Mayor of Kraków
Stanisław Mazur, PhD, professor and former rector of the University of Economics in Kraków, is a political scientist by education and passion, dealing with issues of political power and its role in society.
He is a specialist in public policy and administration, as well as management in the above-mentioned fields. For many years, he has been heavily involved in the development of public life in Kraków, including as president of the Foundation for Public Economy and Administration – GAP Foundation (2007–2009), member of the Civil Service Council (2009–2015), initiator and member of the Better Kraków Association, whose aim is to develop new solutions for public policies in Kraków, and rector of the University of Economics in Kraków in 2020-2024. Since 14 May 2024 he has been the First Deputy Mayor of Kraków.
An experienced manager and leader who has managed numerous projects and organisations. Over several decades of his academic and social activity, thanks to his knowledge, commitment and openness, he has built a strong personal position in both international and national economic and political circles. He has always been focused on cooperation, dialogue and respect for different views, while striving to create practical and useful solutions from the point of view of social interest.
On a personal level, he focuses on building close relationships with his family and friends. He likes to spend his free time at his family home in Szczawa with his loved ones.
A culture enthusiast, he regularly visits Kraków’ theatres and his favourite Mikro Cinema. A book lover, he often returns to the teachings of Tischner and the symbolic writings of Wyspiański. His hobbies include cycling, playing badminton and spicy cuisine.
His friends consider him an idealist.
