Victor Abad
ING Global Network Sector Coverage Head
Is currently the Global Head of Network Coverage, based in Amsterdam, since September 2024 with the aim to further strenghtent the service we provide to ING’s clients through our network and to improve the connection between ING’s platform in EMEA and our network businesses in the APAC and Americas regions.
Prior to his move to Amsterdam, he was Head of Sector Coverage, Asia Pacific since July 2020, being responsible for management of the client coverage in ING Wholesale Banking Asia Pacific. He was a member of the ING Wholesale Banking Asia Pacific Management Committee and ING Wholesale Banking Global Sector Coverage & Commercial Council.
He joined ING in 1997 and have worked in multiple countries in Europe (Spain, Netherlands, Belgium) and functions (Risk, Global/International Clients relationship teams, Energy Sector). He was posted in 2016 to Hong Kong to head coverage efforts with ING’s European and US clients active in the APAC region and also overlooking the client coverage for the intra-Asia international cross border activities of ING’s Asian clients doing business outside their home countries. During his time in Asia, he was also head of Wholesale India.
Victor has been involved in a number of key transactions including corporate finance and M&A, debt and equity capital markets, financial markets and the syndicated loan structure finance market.
In addition to his job in ING, he was Professor of Emerging Markets Finance at CUNEF University, Spain, for more than seven years.
He holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Bachelor Degree in Economic Engineering; also has a doctorate in Spanish Fiscal Law and MBA from Duke University Fuqua School of Business (USA). He is currently first year batchelor of History and Geography.
Victor loves the outdoor i.e. hiking, running, travel and also reading old history books.
