Roman Kolek

Position: Deputy Marshal of Opole Voivodeship

Roman Kolek – the Vice Marshal of the Opolskie Region has self-government experience as well as as health protection manager. He is graduated from Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. Interested in self- improvement, he finished many postgraduate courses in the field of management, health organisation and protection. As a medicine doctor, he was deputy head of the Anaesthesiology Department and later deputy director of the hospital, responsible for medical matters. Since 1999 he has been charged with health protection within the self-government of Opolskie Region. In 2002 he was assigned as deputy director of the Regional Health Insurance charged with medical matters and after the transformation of the health care system, he was deputy director of the National Health Fund – agency in Opole. Since 2010 he has been the member of the Opolskie Region Board responsible for supervision of health care units. Roman Kolek is actively involved in many health protection actions. Since 2005 he has been giving lectures at Business School of the Warsaw Technical University as well as at Superior School of Łazarski in Warsaw. He participated in many international conferences focused on actions aiming at slowing down the spread of infections and decreasing of antibiotic consumption. He also took part in working group on change of the national health policy within the initiative called „Health Academy 2013”. He is the author and the co -author of many publications on public health and health care financing.
