EEC 2019

Keynote speech: AI at our fingertips

14 May 2019 • 13:30-13:50 • Tetris Stage

Thematic scope

Mr. Levay suffered a devastating meningitis infection as a young adult which led to amputations on both his legs and arms. Upon realizing the limitations of prosthetic devices when first receiving one he turned his focus to the control strategies of these devices. Through a Fulbright scholarship he completed his master’s degree at the Johns Hopkins University, where his research centered around machine learning-based controls for upper limb prostheses. During his talk he will show the capabilities of such systems through his own prosthetic arm, while highlighting its limitations and exploring the next steps for such human-machine interfaces.
