The events of recent days – the Russian aggression against Ukraine – have shaken Europe and the world. We cannot predict what will happen next, but we know that our Europe will not be the same after what has happened.

We also realise that together we must courageously look to a future whose menacing outline makes entirely new demands on us, involves as yet unknown difficulties and will probably require sacrifices and particular fortitude as well as responsibility, solidarity and a spirit of cooperation.

Condemnation of the aggression and declaration of support for actions that can halt the dramatic course of events and help Ukraine and the Ukrainians in the hours of historical trial – this is the first reaction. We share it with fellow citizens in our country and throughout the free world. The motives for this attitude absolutely need no explanation.

It is time to move on from the initial shock reaction to decisive action, because that is what struggling Ukraine needs today.

The PTWP Group, organiser of the most important business event in Central Europe, will join the broad current of support for Ukraine with all our experience and knowledge, using the technical and organisational possibilities and instruments of a significant media group on the Polish market, specialising in important areas of the economy.

The environment of the European Economic Congress (EEC) – we have not doubted this for a moment – shares our sentiments and declares its willingness to act.

We therefore encourage everyone – entrepreneurs, investors, companies linked to Ukraine in various ways, young Polish businesses, economic organisations, local authorities, experts and advisers – to share with us their ideas on how to effectively help Ukraine – here in a common Europe and now – in the coming weeks, which may be the toughest.

Thanks to the information and communication competencies, relationships and power of influence of the PTWP Group such initiatives likely to be implemented in partnership spirit.

Through words, attitudes and facts, let us urge decision makers in the region, in Europe and in the world, using extraordinary measures, to put decisive pressure on the aggressor as soon as possible.

We also intend to act in the long term – we are already discussing such cooperation with our Partners.

We do not know what kind of war and post-war scenario we will face in Eastern Europe, what the fate of Ukrainians and the shape of Ukrainian statehood will be.

However, we want to be ready with an offer of cooperation to help rebuild Ukrainian life, ruined by war. For the development and implementation of such a “Plan for Ukraine” – from a humanitarian and economic aspect – we need a strong Polish economy, cooperation between the state and local governments, as well as coordinated action by the European Union and the whole free world.

In the longer term, mechanisms need to be developed to deter an aggressor, to provide security for its potential victims, and to reduce the degree of economic dependence on Russia, which is more dangerous than many believed.

This is also a task for politicians, but also for all of us who have the capacity to create a climate for firm decisions.

The first steps we have taken are aimed at achieving the objectives set out above.

The thematic scope of the European Economic Congress has been significantly changed. This year’s EEC will be a debate different from the previous thirteen editions; given the sum and weight of social and economic as well as historical and civilisation challenges, it may be the most important congress to date.

However, the agenda for the April meeting is still an open document – not only because of the unknown direction of developments in the East, but also to take into account any comments, suggestions and proposals.

We hope you will be active and cooperate with us at this special time.

Of course, PTWP as an organisation and its employees will join humanitarian aid actions for Ukraine, for the victims of war. With the aim of being effective and meeting real needs, we will cooperate with those who carry out such activities using their many years of experience.
