Jerzy Lis

Professor Jerzy Lis – Rector of the AGH University of Krakow since 2020, Vice-President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP) since 2024.

Professor Lis is a member of several committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) and scientific boards of PAS institutes as well as vice-president of the Council of the Łukasiewicz Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials (ICiMB).

He specialises in materials engineering and chemical technology with particular focus on technologies for obtaining advanced and traditional ceramic materials, special techniques of ceramic materials syntheses, and the study of the properties of ceramics and composites and their applications.
Professor Lis is also a member of a number of foreign academic organisations, such as the World Academy of Ceramics, the American Ceramic Society, the International Society of SHS, and editorial boards of the International Journal of SHS and Ceramics International.

With extensive experience in his field, Professor Lis’ academic output includes ca. 400 papers, 6 books, 180 conference presentations (most of which international), and 18 patents. Having supervised a plethora of diploma theses, he actively shares his expertise with younger generations of researchers. He has led multiple research projects funded by national agencies and industry and served as a principal investigator on several national and international initiatives.
