Tibor Gerencsér

Consul General, Consulate General of Hungary in Krakow

Historian, Polish philologist, diplomat.

He graduated from the Loránd Eötvös University in Budapest and the University of Warsaw. He completed with distinction doctoral studies at the Department of the History of Civilization at the University of Loránd Eötvös in Budapest, his supervisor was prof. Csaba G. Kiss.

University lecturer, author of articles and publications in Hungarian and Polish. He studies Polish-Hungarian relations in the 20th century, he wrote a dissertation about cultural relations between Poland and Hungary in the interwar period. He also deals with the history of diplomacy, he is the co-author of the volume on the history of the Hungarian Embassy in Warsaw entitled „Hungarian flag on the Vistula River”.

For several years he worked in the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity in Warsaw, than he was a participant in the International Parliamentary Internship Program of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. After returning to Hungary, he was the director of the Wacław Felczak Foundation in Budapest. At that time, the Foundation successfully promoted Poland in Hungary - incl. awarded scholarships, published several dozen books, carried out numerous cultural and scientific events, and sent nearly 3,000 young Hungarian pupils to Poland.

He has been the Consul General of Hungary in Cracow since 15th of September 2020.
