Tomasz Trawiński PhD, DSc, Eng,  Professor of the Silesian University of Technology,   

Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education of the Silesian University of Technology in 2016-2019, Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion of the Silesian University of Technology 2019-2020 and appointed to the same position in the term 2020-2024.

Over the last five years, he has been conducting intensive research on problems primarily related to the modeling of branched kinematic chains of mass storage head positioning systems, electromechanical transducers used in biomedical engineering, the application of homogeneous transformations in modeling recover energy systems from various sources, electrical energy storage, power electronic energy conditioners, design of torque converters and drilling  techniques using torsional vibrations. In addition, he is involved in mathematical methods for inverting block matrices. He is the author and co-author of 5 monographs, 5 patent applications and 4 patents, author and co-author of 188 scientific articles.

He has reviewed 70 articles for scientific journals and conference materials, among others for: Applied Mathematical Modelling, IEEE Transaction on Mechatronics, Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences, COMPEL, The Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES), Polymers and Advanced Technologies.

Professor Tomasz Trawiński is active in the area of applying for and obtaining funds for scientific research, he was the manager in 4 grants of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and in 2 grants he was a contractor. He was also a contractor in one grant under the 7th EU Framework Program (FurnitReuse project) and was the university coordinator of the INDIRES (Information Driven Incident Response, 2017-2021) project under the Coal and Steel Fund.

Expert of the Mechatronics Section of the Committee on Machine Building of the Polish Academy of Sciences, member of the Metrology Commission of the regional branch in Katowice in 2019-2022. He has been repeatedly awarded by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology with team and individual awards for scientific and organizational achievements.

 

At present, apart from serving as the Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion, he is also the head of the Department of Mechatronics at the Silesian University of Technology.
