Professor Sławomir Smyczek is Vice-Rector for Education and International Cooperation at the University of Economics in Katowice. At the same time, he is the Head of the Department of Consumption Research. He is a national representative in the Asian Marketing Association MAGScholar and in the European Universities Network DUKENET, of which he was the President from 2017 till 2019. Since 2022, he has been the Chairman of the Network of Silesian Universities (SUN). He is visiting professor at different foreign universities, including: Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (Austria), Université de Haute-Alsace (France), Budapest Business School (Hungary), Howest Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen (Belgium) and Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera in Valencia (Spain). He is an expert in the field of consumer rights protection. In 2023, he was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Financial Ombudsman. He conducts scientific research in the field of consumer behavior, sustainable consumption, and consumers’ market exclusion. Prof. Smyczek cooperates as consultant with business. He is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Tauron Polska Energia S.A.
